The Baroque Blossom

The Crown Imperial

The crown imperial or imperial fritillary was introduced into Europe from the Orient in the sixteenth century and already became an important component in Renaissance gardens. It was prized not only for its beauty but was also supposed to protect against rodents.

The Snapdragon

The Snapdragon or antirrhinum got its name from the double-lipped labiate petals that open up like little mouths when pressed. The flower has been present in various colours in decorative gardens since the sixteenth century.

The Daffodils

Along with tulips, daffodils were among the most precious decorative plants in the Baroque garden. The flowers were imported from the Ottoman Empire in the sixteenth century, and around 10,000 examples bloom every spring In Schloss Hof.
