Concerts of the "Philharmonie Marchfeld"
27 April – 19 October 2019 at Schloss Hof Estate
The “Philharmonie Marchfeld” will be guests at Schloss Hof in 2019 again. Conducted by Bettina Schmitt, the orchestra presents varied concert programmes from Baroque music to beloved opera tunes. Subscribers of all five concerts receive an additional season ticket for unlimited entrance to Schloss Hof during the season of 2019.
Flat country, bold sound
The “Philharmonie Marchfeld”, founded in 1983, is a symphonic orchestra consisting of about 70 musicians. The home of the orchestra is Gänserndorf, the district capital in the Marchfeld, about 30 km northeast of Vienna. It was the love for music and the joy of performing music together which has brought them together. Meanwhile this orchestra has become one of the greatest, most active and most frequently visited cultural institutions. Concerts with a repertoire from the baroque to the modern era are offered regularly.
The Philharmonie Marchfeld has gained recognition far beyond the town of Gänserndorf. From 1999 to 2005 they ventured an Interreg project in cooperation with the chamber orchestra of Trnava, Slovakia. With intensive cultural exchange, many concerts took place in Slovakia. Furthermore, the orchestra performed in the Czech Republic and toured Japan in 1999, where they celebrated considerable success in the cities of Soka City, Amagasaki, Fukui and Tokyo in front of thousands of visitors. The greatest compliment was the Empress Michiko’s visit of the concert in Tokyo, who also invited a delegation of the orchestra for a reception afterwards.
At the turn of the year 2001/2002 the Philharmonie Marchfeld toured China and performed five concerts in the cities of Beijing, Hangzhou, Wenzhou and Ningbo. They had enormous success with the most famous works of the Strauß dynasty.
Apart from the concerts of the big orchestra, which mainly take place in Gänserndorf, Schloss Hof and Vienna, the Philharmonie Marchfeld has been performing chamber concerts within subscription concerts at Schloss Hof for a few years now.
